“Good value, family friendly hotel on the Northumberland Coast. Contemporary rooms are decorated in a fresh, breezy style and several have sea views. The relaxed restaurant serves crowd-pleasing classics, the location could not be better and the dog is welcome too. Bucket and spade heaven!”

Hotel Review

The Beach House, set back from the coast road across a wide lawn, is a good value option on a beautiful stretch of coast. Simply decorated, the rooms have been recently renovated and are cosy with clean lines, bright colours, seaside motifs, wooden floors and wood effect walls. Some have sit-out terraces at the back of the building, where there is a small garden.

The attraction of the hotel, however, apart from the price, is the bright sitting room and restaurant overlooking the lawn, each with wide picture windows for gazing out to sea. The lounge has a bar and a large TV and is often buzzy with locals, guests and their dogs — this is a very dog friendly hotel. Across the small lobby, the restaurant serves the usual classics (no dogs allowed here), as well as a fabulous Northumberland breakfast, including the famous kippers from nearby Craster. Service is typically Northumbrian and friendly. The best of the rooms are above — four deluxe rooms with direct sea views.

The Beach House is the perfect base for exploring the coast. Bamburgh Castle is a short drive away, as is Alnwick for Harry Potter Fans, Craster for its pub and fine clifftop walks and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a half hour away. Right outside the hotel is the glorious Bamburgh beach, with its wide expanse of golden sands and rock pools. For a summer seaside holiday with kids, the location can't be beaten.
