Hotel Review

Located 30 minutes’ drive from the airport, the hotel is close to chic shopping street, Principe Real, and Lisbon’s liveliest nightlife district, Barrio Alto. Excellent soundproofing allows for a good night’s sleep. The 53 bright, modern apartment rooms come in five sizes, from Studio to Penthouse, and are suitable for independent travellers, couples and families. Rooms feature high ceilings, French windows with white shutters, and polished wooden floors. Black-and-white headboards stand out against locally-made, colourful tapestry bed cushions and luxurious Portuguese cotton linens. Custom-made rugs, hand-woven wall tapestries and contemporary art adorn the sitting rooms. Kitchenettes include Smeg appliances, porcelain, and fridges stocked with complimentary water, wine and milk on arrival. Bathrooms feature monochrome tiling and amenities from Portuguese brand, Claus Porto. The three penthouses come with their own terrace and panoramic views. Heading upstairs, away from the hotel’s dramatic, monochrome lobby, the Lumi Rooftop Bar & Restaurant boasts impressive panoramic views and is where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. The menu offers traditional Portuguese dishes with a contemporary twist, courtesy of new chef Joao Silva. Downstairs, a cosy spa is home to four elegant treatment rooms, with a steam and sauna room squeezed in too. The gym is small but high-tech, with personal training sessions available on request. Service is friendly and efficient throughout the hotel.
