About Naples

Naples, the largest city in southern Italy, bursts with energy, sea views, and a gritty charm shaped by ancient history, art, and a rich multicultural mix. With Mount Vesuvius on the horizon and islands like Capri just offshore, it’s the perfect base for adventure and indulgence. If you're here for the pizza, Pompeii, or just soaking in the sunshine, you'll find hotels to match every vibe. Think chic design stays along the waterfront, elegant palazzos in the historic centre, cosy B&Bs near the markets, and family-friendly picks around Chiaia. For luxury lovers, head straight to Posillipo’s sweeping bay views.

Some of our Naples Collections:

Naples may be known for its pizza, but there's so much more bubbling under the surface—quite literally. Beneath the city lies a treasure trove of Roman ruins, including Italy’s third-largest amphitheatre and an eerie network of 2nd-century catacombs. Above ground, you'll find a beautiful basilica, Italy’s oldest opera house, and a fascinating mix of grandeur and grit that gives the city its unique edge. Some parts feel as refined as Paris; others are full of local colour and life.

Where you stay in Naples depends on the vibe you’re after. The Centro Storico is rich with stunning architecture and historic sights; Chiaia serves up bay views and high-end shopping; Quartieri Spagnoli is raw and real with its winding alleyways; Santa Lucia brings charm right by the sea; and Vomero offers a more polished experience with cafes, restaurants, and classic architecture. Naples also makes a brilliant base for exploring the region—Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento, and even the vast Cilento National Park are all just a short trip away.

Travel Information

  • Naples Airport is just seven kilometres from the central station, or five or ten minutes by car or bus. In addition to the airport and station, Naples also has the port you can arrive into. Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Airport is about two hours drive, or just under two hours by train.
  • If you want to hire a car we recommend you visit our online partner, Rentalcars.
  • Even in a wet winter Naples gets eight hours a day of sunshine — that’s the Mediterranean climate for you, with hot dry summers and mild winters. The tourist season traditionally begins at Easter, and runs through until the first week of November, with the warmest summer months being the busiest time for visitors. But this city can get really, really hot, so if you’re not restricted on when you can travel you might want to consider the shoulder seasons of April through mid-June, and September through mid-October. The sea remains warm in autumn, and both spring and autumn are lovely times for exploring the Amalfi Coast on foot, or by boat.
