Plus you’re on a beautiful island surrounded by beaches just a short stroll away.
The Hotel Le Cardinal is another pick on beautiful Belle-Île-en-Mer, this time, a very well priced family-friendly beach holiday hotel. Rooms are well appointed and stylish and the facilities include a large outdoor swimming pool and two restaurants. Most rooms have private balconies with wonderful sea views and there are family rooms that can accommodate up to six people.
Les Arbres Rouges is a stylish guesthouse just outside Nantes with five spacious rooms. Complete with an indoor and outdoor pool and a pretty garden. The size means that it’s a good choice for families or groups to rent out in its entirety. The decor is very smart and contemporary. A perfect home-away-from-home.
Maison Tirel Guerin is a charming traditional option set in tranquil gardens. Most of the family rooms are low-rise, and you can walk straight out of your patio doors into the garden. The decor is quite chintzy in some rooms, but varies, so you can opt for something more plain if you prefer. There’s a small spa as well as an indoor pool. One of the surprises of this hotel is its Michelin-star dining, but they have a special kids' menu too, so it’s very welcoming.
Manoir de la Villeneuve is a beautiful rural house set amidst serene parkland. Interiors are traditional and elegant. Accommodation ranges from rooms in the main house to three self-catering cottages. Extensive gardens include a large swimming pool — perfect for little ones to be entertained in all day — but if you want a change of scene, there's also beaches nearby.

For a city stay

Book the Hotel Sud Bretagne in La Baule, which doesn’t quite qualify as a city, but it is a centre as opposed to a hamlet. Interiors have a boutique feel.
